The Diario is reporting today that Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed he is considering investing in the hotel business in Madeira in partnership with the Pestana Group, owner of several hotels in the archipelago and abroad, according to press agency Lusa today – with sources close to his family in Funchal apparently confirming the news.
The hotel, which will bear the name of the CR7 brand, is planned to be built in Funchal, with the player having visited a possible site yesterday (Tuesday) for the construction of a five star hotel. The same source also said that the courtesy call made on Tuesday by the Real Madrid player to the President of the Regional Government of Madeira, Alberto João Jardim, served to inform him of his intention, which received the full support of the ruler.
On the 15th of December Ronaldo will inaugurate a museum in Funchal that will display all of his individually won trophies, including the 2008 FIFA Bola de Ouro (Golden Ball). The captain of the Portuguese national team stated his intention to invite some prominent footballing figures for the inauguration of the musuem, including Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid.
Ronaldo travelled to Madeira accompanied by a number of investors (from Singapore allegedly), with the intention of introducing them to the island where he was born, and investigating a number of business opportunities.
“Ronaldo deserves a sculptural piece in Funchal”
The President of the Regional Government of Madeira, Alberto João Jardim, last week revealed that the city of Funchal will have a statue in tribute to Ronaldo at some point in the future.
“I think Ronaldo at the end of his career, when he gets there, deserves a piece of sculpture in his honor, here in the city of Funchal. But first, let Ronaldo bring more victories for Portugal, “said Jardim.
